X-Noise by Waves is a broadband noise reduction plugin that uses a ‘noiseprint’ to remove unwanted background noise from your recordings. Whether you’re dealing with preamp hiss on vocals, room rumble on a ribbon mic, or computer interference on a guitar track, X-Noise can help you salvage the take without re-recording. The workflow is simple: isolate a section containing only the noise, click Learn, and X-Noise subtracts that noise profile from the entire track. Familiar dynamics-style controls like Threshold and Reduction let you fine-tune the amount of processing, while Attack and Release smooth the reduction. A spectral display provides visual feedback, and you can save two noise profiles for easy comparison. Additional features include a high-shelf filter, Difference mode for monitoring only the removed noise (useful for sound design), and 13 factory presets for when you can’t isolate the noise. X-Noise works on individual tracks or complete mixes and suits producers and engineers needing cleanup in music production, podcasting, or video post.
