Blanketfort Audio Melloharp is a free sampled instrument plugin that combines nylon-string acoustic guitar with the character of a worn, rusty autoharp. It suits hobby producers looking for plucked string textures with a rougher edge than a conventional acoustic instrument library, whether for melodic parts, chord patterns or understated accompaniment.

Rather than stretching a handful of recordings across the keyboard, Melloharp uses multisamples spaced in thirds, with three round robins and three dynamic layers. This gives the instrument more recorded variation across notes and playing strengths than its early Kontakt predecessor.

Its sound also draws on cassette processing. Recordings were passed through a Technics cassette deck and a Sony TCM-40DV, using a double-speed, octave-up recording technique followed by half-speed playback. The resulting material forms three distinct tonal layers, all housed within one instrument and available to blend to taste.
