Harmonic Tides is a Kontakt instrument built from close-miked cello and double bass harmonics, designed for film and game scoring. It offers two distinct sound sources: a shimmering, airy texture from layered celli harmonic glissandi with four dynamic layers, and a sharp, hollow tone from bowing double bass strings between the bridge and tailpiece. Both articulations are chromatically sampled and dynamically expressive, playable live via MIDI. The sounds are processed to disguise their orchestral origin, resulting in pad- and drone-like textures ideal for lush swells, tension, and movement. The interface provides extensive shaping controls—swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato, filter, pitch, and more—plus an adaptable LFO system and 12 filter types. It suits composers and producers seeking expressive, textural strings for modern arrangements, film scores, and ambient music.
