Gloom by Iamlamprey turns a deeply sampled upright piano into a soft, shadowy instrument with an almost weightless character. Its samples have been pitched down five semitones, gently reshaping their harmonics and reducing high-end brightness for a mellow, ethereal sound. It’s a natural fit for ambient textures, intimate piano parts, understated film cues and reflective beats where a clean, bright piano might feel too forward. The instrument spans C1 to C8, with eight velocity layers and two round robins to support expressive playing and variation between repeated notes. Release sounds and player noises add detail around each performance. Built-in Reverb, Worble, Drive and Filter offer further tonal shaping, with automatable controls for movement throughout a track.
