BDX-909

BDX-909 is a kick drum instrument built from detailed modeling of the classic TR-909 analog bass drum circuit. It reproduces the punchy low-end, sharp transients, and nonlinear behavior that made the original a staple of electronic music. Beyond emulation, it adds real-time modulation-wheel control of clipping, from subtle asymmetric saturation to extreme distortion, plus dual-range envelope scaling for longer pitch and amplitude decays. A hardware-accurate LFSR noise generator shapes the attack transient, while velocity-responsive four-zone dynamics and phase-aware click enhancement give expressive impact. Twenty-four preset tunings are mapped to MIDI notes C6–B7, with a chromatic mode for full pitch control.
