Noise Canvas is a spectral sound design tool that turns audio files into editable spectrograms, letting you paint effects and transformations directly onto the sound across time and pitch. It works like a canvas: you use brushes, palettes, and strokes to apply spectral effects such as dynamics, blur, repeat, synthesise, and convolve, all snapped to a musical grid and scale. The plugin offers 11 stackable spectral effects, multi-step brushes with macros, deep modulation via 2D modulators, pen tablet support, and branching history that persists across sessions. It also includes stem splitting (harmonic/percussive, NMF, or AI) with lossless merge back. Noise Canvas integrates with any DAW as an external sample editor, and in Ableton Live 12 it embeds the full editor with Ableton Link tempo sync. Everything runs on the GPU for immediate resynthesis after each stroke. It is aimed at hobby music producers and sound designers who want a visual, hands-on approach to shaping audio, from subtle textures to complex spectral manipulations.
