Bad Tape 2 is a tape degradation effect plugin from Denise Audio, designed for hobby producers who want to add controlled tape artifacts to their tracks. It builds on the original Bad Tape by expanding detune capabilities: you can now set rewind and recover times independently, and either sync the effect to your host BPM or run it off the grid for a more chaotic feel. The result is perfect for simulating a broken tape recorder, a wobbly cassette player, or the nostalgic character of an old walkman. A new advanced side-chain section lets you trigger tape malfunctions from external audio sources—for example, using a kick drum to create rhythmic detuned synth grooves. You can also use the side-chain to add noise textures with Hiss and Harm, or to control when the squeaky tape reel plays, adding organic movement and depth. Bad Tape 2 is suitable for FL Studio, Ableton Live, and Logic Pro on Windows and macOS, and works as an effect plugin for creative sound design and lo-fi processing.
