AudioGridder is a free plugin host that lets you move the DSP processing of your audio plugins to another computer on your network. It works by running a server application on a remote macOS or Windows machine, where your VST2, VST3, or AudioUnit plugins are installed, and connecting to it from your DAW using the AudioGridder plugin. This means you can insert remote effect chains or load CPU-heavy instruments into your project while your local CPU stays free. The remote plugin interfaces are streamed to your screen, and your mouse and keyboard actions are sent back, so you can adjust settings almost as if the plugins were running locally. Latency compensation is included, and there is also a generic editor for direct parameter access. It is aimed at hobby producers who want to extend their system’s processing power without buying new hardware, or who want to share a single plugin library across multiple machines. Setup requires some networking knowledge, but the server runs as a tray application and supports multiple parallel sessions.
