AudioGridder is a free utility that lets you offload the processing of audio plugins to another computer on your network. It works as a plugin host: you run a server application on a remote Mac or Windows machine, and use the AudioGridder plugin in your DAW to access that machine’s VST2, VST3, or AudioUnit plugins. This is useful when your main computer struggles with CPU-heavy instruments or large mixes, as the remote machine handles the DSP while your DAW streams audio and MIDI over the network. The plugin captures the remote plugin’s interface and sends it to your screen, so you can tweak settings almost as if the plugin were installed locally. It supports effect and instrument plugins, latency compensation, and sandboxing. AudioGridder is aimed at hobby producers and project studios with a spare computer available, especially those using FL Studio, Ableton Live, or Logic on Windows. Setup involves running the server, connecting via the plugin, and optionally using multiple server instances for different workspaces.
