Bigulator is a circuit-modeled emulation of a rare analog mastering clipper, designed for producers and mastering engineers who want loudness without obvious processing artifacts. Unlike a limiter, it uses no attack or release envelope — a peak-skimming rectifier drives a VCA at audio rate, so gain reduction follows the waveform instantly. This gives a unique character somewhere between clipping, limiting and saturation. The plugin goes beyond the original hardware with multiband operation (one to three bands with freely adjustable, overlapping crossovers), minimum and linear phase modes, and oversampling up to 16x to suppress aliasing. An asymmetry control lets you dial in imbalance between the two halves of the rectifier, and threshold and ratio interact to reshape the transfer curve. A phase-matched parallel mix keeps the dry signal consistent, while a four-voice digital output clipper offers Tight, Punch, Smooth and Smoother flavors. It runs on Windows as VST3, AAX or CLAP, and suits any DAW including FL Studio, Ableton and Logic. Ideal for hobbyists and professionals seeking a distinctive analog-style mastering tool.
