Benny is a free modular music environment for Windows, built for producers and performers who want to assemble their own live setups. It brings audio, MIDI, hardware and software into a connected workspace, with flexible routing and support for polyphonic configurations. Rather than following a fixed signal path, you can build connections around the way you want to play and experiment.
It also provides a home for your own Max/MSP patches, making it useful for Max users developing custom performance tools. You do not need to know Max programming to get started, though, so it can also suit hobby producers interested in exploring modular workflows without writing patches themselves.
Benny requires Cycling ’74 Max 9. Ableton Live Suite 12 or later offers a route to the required Max environment, and the Max 9 trial is also an option: Benny handles its own loading and saving. No VST or other plugin format is specified, so treat it as a Max-based music tool rather than assuming it will load directly into any DAW.
