Gyrator X is a physics-based equalizer plugin for Windows that models analog circuits at the component level, capturing the interaction and responsiveness of real hardware. Developed by physicist and producer Oliver Gretz, it uses a topology-preserving approach rather than standard DSP, resulting in an EQ that feels organic and musical. The plugin features low, mid, and high bands derived from gyrator circuits, with independent mid/side or left/right operation. A signature Sky Band provides high-frequency shaping with multiple response modes for airy enhancement without harshness. The advanced filter section includes high-pass and low-pass filters modeled from classic analog designs like Multiple Feedback, Sallen-Key, and State Variable, plus a proprietary gyrator-based low-pass. Two independent ADAA saturation stages offer models of tubes, transistors, diodes, and JFETs, positionable anywhere in the signal path. Workflow features include a scalable UI, spectrum analyzer, A/B comparison, undo/redo, auto-gain, and optional oversampling. Ideal for hobby producers using FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic who want analog character in their mixes.
