Kia Instrument is a free virtual instrument built from recordings of movement in nature, captured in locations around the world. It brings those environmental sounds into a musical context, giving producers a nature-based sound source to explore when writing and arranging tracks.

For hobby musicians interested in using field recordings as musical material, the instrument offers an alternative starting point to familiar studio instruments. Its defining idea is the connection between natural movement, sound and creativity, rather than the recreation of a traditional piano, drum kit or synthesizer.

The project draws on claims about pink noise, alpha brain waves and creative flow. These explain the concept behind the instrument, but should not be treated as a guarantee of improved focus or creativity.

Version 1.0.1 is listed for Windows, with VST2, VST3 and standalone versions named in the release title. Windows producers using FL Studio or Ableton Live should check the available installer and their DAW’s plugin support before downloading. The listed download size is 167 MB.
