Tone Empire LVL-01 v2.0 is a Windows compressor plugin that combines dynamics control with thick, gritty saturation. Based on a customized analog Gates Sta-Level unit, it uses machine learning to model the hardware’s character, including vari-mu-style compression associated with 6386 tubes. Its emphasis is on adding weight, punch, and crunch rather than making gain reduction the most noticeable part of the sound.

For hobby producers working on drums, loops, breakbeats, bass, guitars, or synths, LVL-01 offers a way to introduce texture while shaping dynamics. The Drive/Compression control adjusts the processing character, and six recovery settings let you choose how quickly the compressor responds after gain reduction. A wet/dry Mix control makes parallel processing straightforward, so you can blend the treated sound with the original signal.

Built-in automatic gain compensation and an output trim help manage levels, while the resizable interface adapts to your workspace. Included presets provide starting points for experimentation.
