Steinberg Retrologue 2 is a virtual analog synthesizer for producers who want classic synth character with flexible sound design tools. It covers basses, leads, pads, rhythmic sequences and synthesized percussion, making it useful for hobby musicians building tracks or exploring subtractive synthesis on Windows.

The sound engine combines three oscillators, each offering up to eight detunable voices, with dedicated sub and noise oscillators. Choose from 24 filter types and five distortion modes to shape anything from rounded, warm tones to sharper, gritty textures. Four LFOs, amp and filter envelopes, and a custom envelope feed a 16-slot drag-and-drop modulation matrix for evolving sounds without lengthy setup.
