Steinberg Groove Agent 5.2.10 is a drum instrument for songwriters and beat producers who want acoustic performances, electronic kits and sample-based sound design in one workspace. This Windows version suits projects ranging from rock, funk and jazz to trap and EDM.

For acoustic tracks, The Kit combines studio-recorded drums and cymbals with 47 articulations, five round robins and up to 20 velocity levels. Those variations help programmed parts feel less repetitive. More than 1,000 MIDI grooves provide starting points for arrangements, while 20 songwriter-focused styles include intros, endings, fills and different complexity levels.

Electronic producers get over 30 additional kits, with some Beat Agent kits extending beyond drums into bass samples, short melodic elements and miscellaneous hits. The Decompose tool splits imported samples into tonal and noise components, which you can place on separate pads and layer into custom sounds. Pitch envelopes offer further control for drum tuning, drops and build-ups, including separate pitch treatment of decomposed components.
