Scythe

Scythe by Plastaq Software is a VST synthesizer for Windows and OS X that puts hands-on sound shaping at the center of its workflow. Built around the GrainBender engine and interface, it lets you tap the bend button and turn a parameter knob to sculpt sounds in real time. Its oscillators combine analog and digital waveforms, offering a starting point for everything from classic synth tones to more experimental electronic textures. Extensive modulation opens up further movement, while effects including chorus, delay and digital grunge can add space, thickness or a rougher edge. The approachable controls suit hobby producers who prefer exploring sounds by ear rather than getting buried in complex programming. With low CPU usage, Scythe is also a practical option for adding synth parts without putting unnecessary pressure on your project.
