Instead of continuously adjusting gain like a conventional compressor, it detects separate events and levels each one, helping uneven recordings sit more consistently in a mix while preserving their character. Use it to tame loud snare strikes, bring percussion into balance, or reduce bleed and room ambience between hits for a tighter drum sound. Envelope controls let you extend the body of a hit or shorten its release, giving you direct control over how the performance feels. An adjustable detector, including two parallel resonant band-pass filters, helps focus processing on the drum you want to treat.
