Mutronics Mutator

Softube Mutronics Mutator brings the character of the early ’90s stereo analog filter to your DAW, turning guitars, vocals, drums and keyboards into sources of sweeping, synth-like movement. Developed in close collaboration with Mutronics, it recreates the original hardware’s filter and envelope-following behavior for creative sound shaping rather than routine mix correction. Each channel has its own filter, with movement driven by your audio’s dynamics, onboard LFOs with four waveforms, or an external sidechain signal. Try using a drum loop to animate a sustained pad, or add expressive sweeps to a static guitar part. Link the channels for coordinated motion or unlink them for more adventurous stereo effects, then adjust Width and blend processed and dry signals with Mix. It suits electronic producers, beatmakers and experimental musicians looking for characterful filtering and rhythmic texture.
