The Tack Piano

The Tack Piano by Wavesfactory brings the bright, metallic attack of a thumb-tacked upright piano to Kontakt. Its percussive character suits honky-tonk melodies, ragtime arrangements and Western-inspired cues, while offering an alternative to a conventional piano for songwriting and sound design. Eight velocity layers and six round robins provide variation across dynamics and repeated notes, with release samples adding detail. Blend close, mid and far microphone perspectives to balance hammer definition with room ambience, or choose the combined Mix perspective to save RAM. Mixer controls include pan, volume, stereo width and output routing, while eight effect slots offer EQ, compression, modulation and saturation options. It’s a distinctive choice for producers and composers seeking vintage piano character with flexible mixing. Requires the full version of Kontakt 5.7.3 or later; the free Kontakt Player runs it in demo mode only.
