KorgDCM8 by Sinevibes is a sample rate and bit depth reduction effect that turns clean audio into gritty digital textures. Pronounced “decimate,” DCM8 reduces resolution in both time and amplitude, introducing frequency aliasing and quantization noise with a character reminiscent of vintage samplers. Use it to roughen up drum loops, add grain to synth parts, or give polished sounds a deliberately low-resolution edge. An input noise gate helps prevent static analogue noise from being amplified, while built-in lag filters keep parameter changes smooth and free of adjustment noise. Each control uses a carefully selected parameter mapping for a natural response. Part of the Sinevibes KorgFX Collection, its DSP is calibrated specifically for Korg’s hardware platform.
