TAPED: Cassette Kalimba for Ableton Live

TAPED: Cassette Kalimba by KLANG is an Ableton Live instrument that blends kalimba and xylophone tones with the warmth and imperfections of cassette recording. Recorded through an old cassette radio, its wooden and metallic textures come together in a soft, percussive sound, finished with an added decay layer. Tape saturation and the collection’s emphasis on wow and flutter give these acoustic sources a nostalgic character rather than a polished, pristine finish. Use it for delicate melodic hooks, gently repeating patterns or atmospheric accents in lo-fi beats, ambient tracks and understated electronic arrangements. The combination of tuned percussion and worn-tape colour suits producers who want intimate, characterful sounds without relying on conventional piano or synth tones. For Ableton users drawn to handmade textures and imperfect recordings, Cassette Kalimba offers a distinctive starting point for melodic ideas.
