Wave Arts Tube Saturator Vintage v1.10-TCD

Wave Arts Tube Saturator Vintage is a free tube saturation effect that brings the character of a dual-triode preamp into a software mixing setup. Rather than approximating that character with a simpler processing method, it uses circuit simulation to model the original hardware-style behavior. It is a reissue of the first Tube Saturator, made available again for listeners who prefer its sound.

For hobby producers exploring tube coloration, this Windows plugin offers a way to try the original design without buying a license. It is suited to users who want preamp-style saturation and are comfortable trading processing efficiency for access to this particular sound.

CPU demand is the main consideration: the detailed circuit modeling can put a substantial load on your system. Its successor, Tube Saturator 2, was developed to run much more efficiently while retaining nearly the same simulation accuracy and adding features. Vintage remains the option for producers specifically interested in the earlier version’s sonic character.
