Bentside Spinet

Soundiron Bentside Spinet brings the intimate character of a historic household keyboard into Kontakt. Darker and less brilliant than a harpsichord, its plucked tone offers rich sustain and a restrained warmth that works well for period-inspired arrangements, delicate melodies and atmospheric scoring. Recorded by composer and sound designer John Valasis, the instrument features stereo close and far microphone positions, with eight round-robin variations for each key. Sampled note releases and key-up and key-down sounds capture the mechanical details behind the performance. Beyond the acoustic instrument, 20 ambient soundscapes and 20 custom FX presets take the original recordings into more experimental territory. Supplied as one master NKI instrument bank in open Kontakt format, Bentside Spinet suits producers and composers looking for an expressive alternative to familiar piano and harpsichord textures.
