SSL LMC+

SSL LMC+ by Solid State Logic brings the aggressive character of the SSL 4000E console’s Listen Mic Compressor into a flexible compression effect. Closely associated with the explosive drum ambience of the 1980s, its fixed attack and release curves suit crushing room microphones, adding attitude to drum loops, and pushing percussion forward. Modern additions expand its creative range: an external sidechain lets another signal drive gain reduction, while variable highpass and lowpass filters shape which frequencies trigger compression. Scoop inverts the wet signal’s phase, and Split introduces bandpass-subtraction processing for further tonal experimentation. The Mix control blends processed and dry audio, making it easy to add parallel compression without losing the original impact. With straightforward controls and a deliberately forceful sound, LMC+ suits producers who want distinctive drum character rather than subtle, transparent dynamics control.
