Palm Mute Piano

Palm Mute Piano is a Kontakt instrument built from a grand piano played with finger dampening, producing a soft, intimate tone that sits somewhere between a felt piano and a muted percussion instrument. Three articulations — staccato, sustained and a rich pedalled layer — cover everything from tight rhythmic patterns to atmospheric washes. Three individually blendable microphone positions (close, stereo and room) let you dial in anything from dry and focused to spacious and cinematic, all captured in a warm converted cinema auditorium with a class A signal chain. The sampled range runs from A-1 to C5. It suits film and game composers, ambient and lo-fi producers, and songwriters wanting an expressive, characterful piano layer. Requires the full version of Kontakt; it will not run in the free Kontakt Player.
