The Oberheim SEM plugin from GForce Software recreates Tom Oberheim’s original 1974 Synthesizer Expander Module, a deliberately simple monophonic synth with a famously huge voice. Built in close collaboration with Oberheim and former Oberheim engineer Marcus Ryle, it models two VCOs with pulse and sawtooth waveforms, two ADS envelopes, an LFO, and the legendary multi-mode filter, even capturing the analog inaccuracies that give the hardware its character. A third VCO doubles as an LFO for added flexibility. Because the architecture stays simple, warm basses, soaring leads and sweeping arps come together in seconds, so you spend less time tweaking and more time writing. Over 400 categorised patches provide instant starting points. This instrument suits hobby producers making electronic, pop and film-style music who want authentic vintage analog tone without a steep learning curve, in any major DAW.
