TASCAM 388

The TASCAM 388 plug-in from IK Multimedia recreates the legendary tape tone of the original 388, a large-format studio-in-one-unit that combined a mixer with an 8-track tape machine. This officially certified version delivers the warmth, vibe, and magic that made the 388 one of the most sought-after tape recorders ever. It includes one channel of the mixer and the tape deck’s character, with controls for bias, record-head EQ, a 3-band parametric EQ, and four tape formulas for a range of flavors. Use it to add analog warmth, gentle compression, and musical movement to vocals, drums, guitars, or full mixes. It suits hobby producers and engineers wanting authentic tape coloration without the cost and maintenance of hardware. Easy-to-use controls and presets make it simple to dial in the right sound for any production.
