AlyJamesLab OB-XTRM v2.0.1 is a Windows synthesizer inspired by the voice architecture and circuit behavior of classic OB-X and OB-Xa instruments. It suits producers who want analog-style brass stabs, broad pads, assertive leads and gritty bass, with control over the differences between individual voices.
Choose eight-voice polyphony, eight-voice unison or single-voice mono operation. FAT mode adds polyphonic unison for denser sounds. Oscillator options include saw, pulse, triangle and a combined saw-plus-pulse shape whose harmonic character changes with pulse width.
The filter section offers an OB-X-inspired two-pole design with a bandpass option, plus a four-pole design based on the CEM3320 implementation. The Xtreme control adjusts modeled OTA distortion, while separate pre- and post-stage bypass options help shape the response.
Voice-card variation controls introduce tuning, envelope and filter differences rather than treating every note identically. Rebuilt for version 2, OB-XTRM also includes legacy envelope and filter control modes for recreating version 1 sounds. It is a practical choice for hobby producers exploring vintage-style synthesis and detailed sound design.
