Audacity v2.2.2 WiN/Mac OSX [FREE]

Audacity 2.2.2 is a free, open-source audio application for recording and editing across multiple tracks. It is a standalone editor rather than a VST plugin, making it a separate workspace for audio tasks instead of an effect or instrument you load inside your DAW.

For hobby producers, its role is straightforward: record audio and work on recordings in a multitrack environment. It suits anyone who needs a dedicated audio editor alongside their music-making setup, whether they normally arrange tracks in FL Studio, Ableton Live, or another DAW. If your main requirement is audio recording and editing rather than a new synth or sound-processing plugin, Audacity belongs in that utility role.

The software is cross-platform, although this listing identifies Windows as the available platform. Version 2.2.2 is the release covered here, so check compatibility with your operating system before installing. As a free option, it offers a way to add a separate recording and editing workspace without buying another application.
