AugustRose Audio Faux-Tin 808 is a Windows VST3 overdrive plugin for shaping heavy guitar tones, aimed at producers working in death metal, deathcore, grindcore and modern metal. It gives home-recording guitarists and mixers control over the DI signal before distortion and the processed sound afterward.

Input and output controls help manage gain staging, while a noise gate placed before the overdrive lets you clean up the incoming DI. Turn the gate fully down if you prefer to use a separate gate. The Mix control blends dry and processed signals, making it easy to dial back the effect without removing it from your chain.

Separate pre- and post-overdrive highpass and lowpass filters offer flexible tone shaping. For lower-tuned guitars, the post highpass can reduce excess low end and help tighten the sound; adjust it carefully to preserve weight. Three highpass slopes—6, 12 and 24 dB per octave—let you choose how gradually or firmly the bass is reduced.
