GateMate from Aurora DSP takes a different approach to noise gating by splitting the job into two linked plugins. GateMate Pre sits before your amp or cabinet sim, cleaning up the incoming DI signal and gathering the data needed for the second stage. GateMate Post goes after the amp, using that information to apply the final noise reduction with attack, release, and threshold controls—release can even be automated. You set a channel selector on both instances to the same channel so they work together. The Pre interface has a single control for the amount of noise reduction, while Post gives you the finer shaping tools. The result is a gate that responds naturally to your playing without choking your tone, handling dirt and dynamics as you’d expect. It’s aimed at guitarists and producers recording DI tracks in FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic on Windows who want a cleaner signal chain without wrestling with a single gate plugin.
