BFD Vintage Recording Techniques is a drum expansion for BFD3 built around a Ludwig Classic Maple kit captured with classic microphone setups. Its 29 microphone channels combine detailed direct recordings with vintage approaches including ORTF, spaced pair, Blumlein and Glyn Johns, giving you room to shape everything from intimate grooves to broad, ambient drum mixes. Ribbon-mic ambience brings a smooth character, while the different stereo configurations offer distinct perspectives on the same kit. Real drum bleed and resonance between shells help preserve the feel of an acoustic performance. Each kit piece is played with sticks and presented naturally, with presets available as starting points. Suited to producers who want acoustic drums with character and mixing flexibility, this expansion covers vintage and modern rock, pop, blues, funk and country, with the ORTF recordings also lending themselves to jazz.
