Bom Shanka Machines chrisGlitch is a Windows audio effect for turning incoming sound into sliced, repeated and reversed patterns. It suits hobby producers who want anything from small rhythmic disruptions to heavily scrambled audio, with controls for shaping how often each glitch behavior occurs.
Slice lengths can vary randomly from one to sixteen sixteenth notes, while a minimum-length setting helps keep the results within your preferred range. Choose sixteenth-note or eighth-note-triplet timing, then adjust the chances of playback jumping to another buffer position, reversing a slice or repeating it. Repeat controls include an overall probability, a force option, separate probabilities for individual repeat lengths and a user-defined repeat length.
For more controlled results, chrisGlitch offers deterministic randomness alongside continuously changing random behavior. An envelope helps reduce clicks and pops, with an optional click guard for frequent reverse playback. You can also retain the audio buffer, choose whether incoming audio passes through or is blocked when the effect is disengaged, and use optional MIDI manual control. A visual buffer display shows the current playback slice as you work.
