Bowed Fences

Bowed Fences is a Kontakt instrument built from field recordings of a cello bow scraped across old barbed wire fences in rural Texas. The result is a uniquely unsettling collection of horror and sci-fi textures. Three main patches deliver raw material: guttural low drones, piercing whines that resemble distant screams, and metallic hits captured from fence poles and wire, each with multiple round robins. A set of 14 processed pad patches offers evolving tension beds, with a low-pass filter mapped to the mod wheel for expressive timbral shifts. Five percussive impact patches are ideal for trailer accents and stingers. The interface provides hands-on control over EQ, pitch, reverb (13 custom impulse responses), and a grit knob for added distortion.
