Cassette Piano.02 SFZ

Cassette Piano.02 SFZ by THEPHONOLOOP turns an imperfect upright piano into a characterful instrument for vintage-inspired productions. Recorded in a ballet training room, its new piano samples retain the small irregularities that give an acoustic performance personality. Processing through four cassette decks adds a range of textures, from relatively stable stereo recordings to noisy mono tones with pronounced pitch wobble. It’s a natural fit for lo-fi beats, nostalgic melodies and atmospheric arrangements where a pristine piano feels too polished. Carefully denoised notes help limit noise buildup in chords, while a separate noise control lets you shape the background texture. Sample-start adjustment softens initial attacks, an octave-down switch explores darker timbres, and a two-band tone EQ provides straightforward shaping. Simulated round robin adds variation to faster passages, making this a useful choice for producers who value warmth and imperfection.
