Chromaphone 3 by Applied Acoustics Systems is a physical modelling synthesizer that turns acoustic behaviour into playable instruments. Its eight modelled resonators let you explore the character of strings, plates, drumheads, bars and tubes, from familiar acoustic tones to unusual hybrid textures. By modelling how coupled resonators exchange energy, it captures interactions that give sounds a lively, organic feel. Two independent timbres can be stacked for layered patches or split across the keyboard for performance. Four macros per layer offer real-time control over modulation, timbre, envelopes and effects, with assignments to your chosen MIDI controls. A streamlined Home view and browser make finding and adjusting presets straightforward.
