CodeFN42 VeloScaler is a free Windows VST MIDI utility that reshapes note velocities before they reach an instrument. It is useful for hobby producers who want more control over MIDI dynamics, whether they are adjusting a programmed part or adding variation to repeated notes.

You can divide incoming notes into as many as five bands, selecting them by velocity range or MIDI note number. Each band has its own minimum and maximum settings, plus velocity scaling by an absolute amount or a percentage. Scaling can also be randomized to introduce differences between notes. The audible result depends on how the receiving instrument responds to velocity, so it is particularly useful with patches that change volume or tone according to playing strength.

Version 1.16 adds preset copy and paste commands, allowing settings to be transferred between plugin instances. This update also includes an installer and minor fixes. VeloScaler is a practical option for Windows producers using hosts such as FL Studio or Ableton Live, provided MIDI can be routed from the plugin to the destination instrument.
