Soundtoys Crystallizer is a granular echo effect that combines pitch shifting, reverse echoes and sliced audio to turn simple parts into evolving textures. Inspired by the Eventide H3000’s Reverse Shift algorithm, it delivers shimmering trails, icy harmonies and deliberately glitchy movement rather than transparent, natural-sounding pitch changes. Use it to expand sparse guitar lines, give chords an atmospheric backdrop or push instruments into strange sound-design territory. Its character fits ambient, chillwave and indie productions, as well as tracks that need a touch of late-80s digital colour. MIDI sync and automation help you control the motion, while built-in Gate and Duck functions manage the echoes dynamically. Low- and high-cut filters let you steer the result from bright, sparkling layers to darker washes. Crystallizer suits producers who want an expressive creative effect for transforming straightforward recordings into something more unexpected.
