Equalizer APO is a free system-wide equalizer for Windows that operates as an Audio Processing Object (APO), integrating directly into the Windows audio pipeline. Unlike typical VST plugins that run inside a DAW, this tool applies EQ to all audio passing through your system, making it ideal for correcting room acoustics, adjusting headphones, or shaping the sound of any application. It supports a virtually unlimited number of filters across any number of channels, with very low latency and minimal CPU usage. The modular graphical interface lets you build complex EQ chains, and VST plugin support extends its processing capabilities. It also integrates with Voicemeeter for advanced routing. Equalizer APO is aimed at hobby producers and audio enthusiasts who want flexible, system-level tone control without cost. It requires Windows Vista or later (tested on Windows 7–11) and works on x64, x86, and ARM64 architectures. Note that it cannot be used with ASIO or WASAPI exclusive mode, as those bypass the system effect infrastructure. Version 1.4.1 adds an update checker and ARM64 support.
