Expressive Tron

Expressive Tron by Tronsonic brings the weathered voice of the M400 Mellotron to character-driven music production. Presented in Microtape Plus format, its four enhanced tape banks cover flute, strings, cello and male choir. The original recordings were later transferred to worn tape on a Ferrograph Series 6, giving these familiar sounds a deliberately degraded texture rather than a clean, polished finish.

That roughness is the appeal: use the banks for faded melodic lines, unsettled string layers or ghostly choir parts that add age and atmosphere to an arrangement. Expressive Tron suits hobby producers and sound designers exploring lo-fi, ambient, psychedelic or cinematic ideas. If you prefer imperfect vintage tones to pristine orchestral realism, this collection offers a focused palette of tape-worn Mellotron character.
