Flandersh Tech Substitute is a free virtual analog synthesizer for Windows producers who want traditional subtractive synthesis alongside custom waveform options. Available as a 64-bit VST3 plugin, it suits hobby musicians and sound designers working in compatible hosts such as FL Studio and Ableton Live.

Its two oscillators provide classic waveforms and support custom single-cycle waves, including the ability to record a waveform from another virtual instrument for use inside the synth. Two analog-style filters run in series and use topology-preserving designs. Four envelopes and four LFOs handle modulation, with CV outputs for controlling other virtual instruments where the host and routing setup allow it.

The effects section covers delays, reverb, compression, waveshaping, ring modulation, FM, bit reduction, saturation, tone control and a special noise generator. A MIDI chord generator and classic arpeggiator add options for building chord patterns and rhythmic sequences.
