midiChords is a free MIDI processing plugin for Windows and macOS that turns any incoming note into one or more output notes. It is aimed at hobby producers who want to build chord progressions, experiment with harmony, or trigger multi-note patterns from a single key. You can enter chords by clicking a piano keyboard or a generic fretted-string view, by typing note names or intervals, or via MIDI Learn. Basic strumming is supported, and each chord note can be routed to any combination of MIDI channels. Chords can be saved and loaded as text files and shown in menus, copied to other trigger notes, and recognized by name. Input velocity is passed to the output, and the whole output can be transposed. Three modes cover different workflows: Full mode assigns a separate chord to each of the 128 MIDI notes, Octave mode repeats twelve chords across octaves, and Global mode transposes a single chord over the full input range. It also includes 128 internal programs with optional MIDI program change and imports Cubase/Nuendo Chorder XML presets.
