J1000 CL36 is a free three-band soft clipper for Windows, designed for producers who want to control sharp peaks on drums, fast-attacking instruments, or full mixes before a final limiter. It splits incoming audio into low, mid, and high bands, letting you adjust clipping amount, waveshaping bias, and gain independently across the spectrum.
Each band offers normal and hard clipping curves, plus optional random LFO modulation of the bias for changing waveshaping behaviour. Once the bands are recombined, low- and high-end filtering helps shape the output, while an additional full-range clipping stage keeps peak levels below 0 dBFS. An optional Mid+Side mode provides another way to work with stereo width.
CL36 uses 12 dB/oct crossover filters and includes a zoomable waveform display of the combined output, making it easier to see how processing affects the signal. With zero latency, low CPU use, and 32-bit internal processing, it suits hobby producers looking for practical transient control and frequency-specific clipping without a complicated workflow.
