Annulus is a polyphonic resonator and effects engine for sound designers who work with texture rather than presets. Its core is a faithful implementation of the physical modeling engine behind Mutable Instruments’ Rings, offering six distinct algorithms. The Morphosis modal resonator delivers warm harmonic clusters, while Sympatheia provides sympathetic strings that retune to incoming pitch. Bathmos is a Karplus-Strong string model, Anomalia is an FM voice, and Donisis locks sympathetic strings to chord shapes. An eighth mode, Antron, combines string and reverb. The engine feeds into four linked processors: the resonator, a stereo tape delay called Spiral, an algorithmic reverb named Velvet, and a twelve-model distortion at 2x oversampling. Four macro knobs—Morphe, Aigle, Nothros, and Topos—let you shape the entire chain with single gestures. Eight voices spread across the stereo field with velocity and position randomization for organic variation. Annulus suits hobby producers and sound designers using FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic on Windows or Mac who want to create evolving, physical-modeling-based textures and effects.
