The JUPITER-4 from Roland revives the very first synthesizer to wear the JUPITER name, originally released in 1978. Built with Roland’s Analog Circuit Behavior modeling, it recreates the warm, fat character and subtle circuit quirks of the vintage hardware inside your DAW or SYSTEM-8. Despite a single VCO, the combined oscillator, filter, and LFO design delivers a remarkably thick, lush tone, and the built-in Ensemble chorus adds extra shimmer. It’s a natural fit for synth pop, new wave, and retro-flavored productions, though modern enhancements—extended oscillator range, adjustable noise, velocity sensitivity, sub-oscillator volume control, and a flexible arpeggiator—push it well beyond the original. Hobby producers chasing classic analog warmth, vintage-inspired pads, or expressive leads will find it an inspiring, authentic-sounding instrument that’s easy to reach for in any session.
