Lines is a creative effect and feedback synthesizer plugin from AudioThing, inspired by the obscure 1970s Axel Line Simulator. It excels at mangling incoming audio into lo-fi telephone voices, lush phasing, warm distortion, crushing feedback, ring modulation, and frequency shifting. But it also works without any input, generating experimental rhythms, pulses, and organic soundscapes from its internal feedback engine. Combine both for unexpected hybrid textures. Designed with composer Hainbach, Lines simulates the original’s signal path at component level, then extends it with wider frequency shift range, fine-tunable filters, an extra feedback filter, a flexible pulse sequencer, and full sync/modulation options. A built-in limiter keeps feedback patching musical. It suits producers exploring sound design, lo-fi character, and playful experimentation in electronic, ambient, and experimental genres.
