Lovely Composer is a Windows music creation tool for writing chiptune tracks and retro game sound effects. Its console-inspired editor offers an approachable way to arrange melodies, chords and rhythms, whether you are learning composition, building audio for a game or sketching ideas before developing them in a DAW.
Projects provide four user parts plus a combined chord and rhythm part, with the option to change tones on individual notes. Choose from 50 tone patterns across a seven-octave range, adjust volume in 16 steps and position sounds left, right or centre. Chord entry and preset rhythm patterns help with arranging, while MIDI keyboard support lets you preview sounds. More than 20 included example songs give beginners material to explore.
Songs can extend to 1,024 bars, with intro and loop support for repeating arrangements. Export WAV audio or MIDI files to continue working in software such as FL Studio or Ableton Live. MP3, Ogg, FLAC and Opus conversion is also supported, alongside autosave. Lovely Composer is a dedicated composition tool rather than a confirmed VST plugin.
