magic.METER is a free vocal analysis plugin that measures your vocal rather than processing it, then grades the result against measurements taken from 3,054 hit-song vocals. You sing or play back a take inside your DAW and the plugin shows where your vocal sits, pointing to the first adjustment worth considering instead of rewriting the mix for you. Seven tabs break the reading down into tone, dynamics, level, recording, width, space and sibilance. Tone comparisons can be narrowed to all hits, nine genre groups, eras or voice types, while the Recording tab flags practical issues in a raw take such as clipping, P-pops, noise, hum, level, mic distance, room and mic range. RAW mode suits a dry recording before mixing, and PROCESSED mode is for a finished chain after reverb and delay.
