Emelie is a free standalone analysis and playback tool for comparing loudness normalization methods, aimed at hobby producers who want more musical consistency between tracks on streaming platforms. It loads audio files, calculates gain proposals for different methods—official integrated LUFS, ReplayGain, MLI Natural 1.5, and custom .mlim files—and applies those gains live during playback without altering the source. You can switch between blind and open listening to judge which method preserves the intended relationship between a sparse acoustic track, a dense EDM master, or a quiet intro. The interface also shows musical structure, momentary loudness, peaks, and method behavior, with exportable results for further study. MLI Natural 1.5 uses profile-based analysis to assign tracks to categories like wall-of-sound, EDM, or intentionally quiet, then adjusts measurement accordingly. Emelie does not master, render, or tag files; it is a listening and evaluation environment for producers, engineers, and researchers curious about how loudness rules affect musical playback. Runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
